We will start our study of French writing and reading by learning/reviewing the 36 unique sounds of French, in the sequence that follows. Each week for 9 weeks, students will play with 4 new sounds and their usual spelling. They will demonstrate their understanding on the weekly dictée. Initially, two levels of comprehension/challenge will be available to students each week: they can write the letter(s) that represent the sounds and/or they can write a word that contains the sound. For example, for [s], the student might write "s" and/or "serpent".
